Oral Hygiene
How to do it?
AT HOME: Brush your teeth twice a day, for 2-3 minutes (USING A TIMER). Use a toothpaste that contains 1450ppm of Fluoride.
Mouthwash at 2 different times to your brushing.
Clean interproximally with floss or interdental brushes.
Eat healthily and limit sugar to meal times only.
IN PRACTICE: We will help by continuing to provide information on the most effective way to look after your teeth. Our 3 month hygiene program is the best way to maintain good oral hygiene.
The checkup
Extra-oral examination: Dentists check the structure outside of the mouth too. We check all of the soft tissues for any abnormalities, lumps and bumps.
Intra-oral examination : We will check your teeth as well as all of your soft tissues. we make take x-rays to check your old filling and to see if you need any new ones.

It is important to protect all of your teeth and gums to make sure that you can function properly and look your best always.
Healthy gums and teeth are crucial before embarking on any cosmetic treatment.
Check-ups are usually every 3, 6, 9 or 12 months
Oral Cancer Screening
Catch it earlY!
With oral cancer on the rise, it is important to have your soft tissues examined regularly. If present, treatment is far more successful in the early stages
Smoking and excessive alcohol intake drastically increases the risk of oral cancer.
Common areas include (but not limited to) lips, tongue, floor of the mouth, inside of the cheek. Commonly can appear as a white or red patch.
If you spot anything abnormal, contact us immediately for an assessment not your doctor.
Prevent Gum Disease
How to do it?
What does gum disease cause: Gum disease can cause bleeding gums, wobbly teeth and bad breath (halitosis). it is cause by plaque. plaque can harden to form calculus. When infected, gum disease also cause pain and discomfort
How to prevent gum disease: Good oral hygiene and regular maintenance is important to prevent gum disease. This can involve brushing, mouth washing and cleaning interdentally.
What to do: If you are concerned about the health of you gums contact us immediately. Gum disease can be in its minor form (gingivitis) or severe (periodontitis). Gum disease can be controlled in healthy, non-smoking patients.
Prevent Decay/Holes
How to do it?
What does decay cause: Decayed and broken teeth can cause pain and irritation.
Do I need a filling: You may need a filling if you have sensitivity, toothache, bad breath, discolored tooth, irritation on your gum next to a tooth.
How to prevent dental decay: Maintain a healthy diet and limiting sugar to meal times can help to prevent holes. We can help by providing diet advice and assist with Fluoride application.
What to do: If you are concerned about the health of your teeth contact us immediately. Small holes/fractured teeth can become bigger holes over time and cause pain, swellings or infection.
